I particularly appreciate the tags she places at the end of her article: “BURN IT : DONATE IT : GIVE IT AWAY : KEEP IT : TOO MUCH ART : TRASH IT.” Inverting this thesis, I might say that art just is this too much, this trash, falling on the side of the supplement, the impertinent nothing, the useless, extra. Sure, art is recuperable as equipment for living, as various crystal balls, soothsaying gear, mirrors of natures, truths that are beauties that are truths, ancestral wires and traces—but still, art is excess. Or the excess that shows that we’ve never been enough. To each other. To ourselves.
