Mark di Suvero, Crissy Field, Falsework?

Back in December of ’13, someone posted this pict to our Falsework cache log with the caption “Falsework?”

Which is hilarious because these di Suvero sculptures, visible from the cache, were temporary at the time the photo was taken, so a falsework of sorts. Hilarious too though because John Walters, the chief engineer of the Doyle Drive Parkway project didn’t think much of them, saying, “I’d like to get paid to do that.” So, he considered them false too, false engineering rather than true engineering. No, I don’t like the game being played here—either sculpture or engineering—but I’m a huge fan of John and can take or leave di Suvero.
